As a child, I was fascinated by adults. When my parents had friends over, I was prone to staring and imagining how they might view the world.

I also spent a lot of time playing outdoors and reading. I was the oldest of five children and went to grade school in California, junior high in Massachusetts and high school and college in Wisconsin.

As an adult, my sphere of fascination has touched on a variety of subjects, some of which are highlighted on this site. The cultivation of compassion, discernment and humor are what I value most.

I do accounting and various freelance projects for a living. One of the prose pieces on this website called Poetry and Spreadsheets goes into some of the similarities and differences between poetry and accounting and why I like doing both.
